Colophon
How this site is made.
- Type
- Set in Mona Sans, GitHub’s open-source typeface, at its normal width. I tried it wider and chose readability. The font is served from this site, not a font service.
- Color
- A palette I call Lamplight: warm amber on near-white paper by day, and on a warm near-black at night. The site follows your system’s light or dark setting, and every text color meets WCAG AA contrast in both.
- Build
- Astro, writing static HTML, with CSS written by hand: custom properties in cascade layers,
light-dark()for the two themes, and a type scale that grows smoothly from phone to desktop. No CSS framework, and almost no JavaScript: a few lines remember your ticks on the Front Yard checklist, and the only other script is Cloudflare’s visitor analytics, which sets no cookies. - AI
- Designed by me and built with Claude, the same way as the 2026 projects. How I work with AI
- Hosting
- Cloudflare.
- Accessibility
- Every page scores 100 for accessibility and best practices in Lighthouse, on mobile and desktop (checked on the live site, 17 October 2026). Beyond the automated checks: every color pair meets WCAG AA in both themes, every page works from the keyboard with a skip link and a visible focus ring, pages reflow to 320 px wide without sideways scrolling, and link arrows are hidden from screen readers.
